It is a given now that when Obama presents you with a choice between two alternatives, at least one of them is a total fabrication. Here’s a by-now typical example:
Writing in the Chicago Tribune last week, President Obama fell back on one of his favorite rhetorical tics: “But I also know,” he wrote, “that we need not choose between a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism and an oppressive government-run economy. That is a false choice that will not serve our people or any people.”
Really? For the moment, it’s a “false choice” mainly in the sense that he’s not offering it: “a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism” is not on the menu, which leaves “an oppressive government-run economy” as pretty much the only game in town.

The war on terror is gone - the phrase that is, replaced by the meaningless “Overseas Contingency Operation”. Nobody will use it, and that will make it easier to shut down.

I didn’t expect another totalitarian update so soon, but this crisis is definitely not going to waste for the fascist wing of the White House. I mean that in the strictest sense of the word - the government has no business taking control of the market to the extent they are planning.

It looks like the White House is going ahead with plans to charge vets through private insurance for service-related treatment. It was expected that Obama wouldn’t have the same reverence for the troops as his predecessor, but this is ridiculous. There are many ways to generate government revenue, and this isn’t one of them.
“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”
The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, “This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ‘ to care for him who shall have borne the battle’ given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America’s veterans!”

At some point, the MSM is going to notice that the savviest, most ethical team of cool kids to ever run the White House are mired in constant scandal, foreign policy blundering and tone-deaf arrogance.

President Obama uses straw man tactics in almost every public speech he makes. When will the media notice? Luckily Charles Krauthammer is on the case.
George Bush’s nationally televised stem cell speech was the most morally serious address on medical ethics ever given by an American president. It was so scrupulous in presenting the best case for both his view and the contrary view that until the last few minutes, the listener had no idea where Bush would come out.
Obama’s address was morally unserious in the extreme. It was populated, as his didactic discourses always are, with a forest of straw men. Such as his admonition that we must resist the “false choice between sound science and moral values.” Yet, exactly 2 minutes and 12 seconds later he went on to declare that he would never open the door to the “use of cloning for human reproduction.”
Does he not think that a cloned human would be of extraordinary scientific interest? And yet he banned it.
Is he so obtuse not to see that he had just made a choice of ethics over science? Yet, unlike President Bush, who painstakingly explained the balance of ethical and scientific goods he was trying to achieve, Obama did not even pretend to make the case why some practices are morally permissible and others not.

New ‘urban czar’ Adolfo Carrion had his home renovated with help from an architect who needed Carrion’s approval for a big project. Conflict of interest much? Pay for play seems to be SOP on the left.

It may be only a matter of time before Chas Freeman hits the skids as head of the National Intelligence Council. Here’s your hat, what the hurry?

That sums up the presidency so far and the White House-led attack on a private citizen (albeit a popular one). Nobody’s buying it either.
Is this the ‘hope’ or the ‘change’ part?

If you oppose Team Obama’s multi-trillion dollar stimupalooza, you’re a lobbyist, special interest whiner or just evil. Bush 43 was castigated for saying you’re either with us or with the terrorists, but Obama has taken it a step further and told Americans that you’re either with him or against the country if you don’t agree with his economic prescription.
The left loves to bring up Nixon’s enemies list, but that was after years in the political trenches and was fairly focused. Obama has been in for a month and his list is bigger than a phone book.
