What’s wrong with Kansas? Besides the governor

This is beyond ridiculous - the Health and Human Services nominee has ‘corrected’ her taxes and paid over $7000 owed. No word on any penalty for years of incorrect filings, like a normal person would have to pay.

So which is it, liberal politicians have no regard for the tax laws they impose on others, or the tax system is so complicated not even well-educated top politicians  - the governor of Kansas in this case - can figure it out?

Looking for a few good men. Or women. Whatever.

The amazingly smooth transition led by the savviest and coolest team ever, is having a lot of trouble finding qualified people who aren’t tax cheats or have skeletons preventing them from going through the full vetting process.

Can this ‘ultra-competent’ canard be stuck with the ’soaring oratory’ meme and dropped in a hole somewhere?  They weren’t true before and they have been proven false now.

You can’t make this stuff up

The person in charge of vetting candidates for tax problems has tax problems of his own. Or his wife’s. Same difference.

Do any of these people follow the rules they so gleefully impose on others?

Update:  No.

Yet still more again etc.

More revelations from the Solis nomination hearings - her husband had just recently paid off tax liens, some of which had been outstanding for 16 years.  At this rate the deficit can be handled by nominating as many democrats as possible to cabinet.

The MSM can’t carry this much water for Obama, not even they have the stomach for this much corruption and at some point it’s going to leak onto the pages of USA Today.  I don’t think anybody expected the wheels to fly off in all directions like this.

Rangel has got to go

This guy is the living embodiment of chutzpah, defying Nancy Pelosi to actually uphold whatever ethics standards are left in congress.  How long can they drag this out?  Any normal, non-elite Democrat would be in jail by now, at the very least fired.

The report identifies 28 separate instances within the past 30 years where he failed to report in congressionally-mandated filings on personal assets. The report from the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation was based on a review of Rangel’s filings from 1978 to the present.

The researchers write, “Assets worth between $239,026 and $831,000 appear or disappear with no disclosure of when they were acquired, how long they were held, or when they were sold.”

Come on.

VDH on a roll, isn’t impressed

Victor Davis Hanson lets loose on the rocky start to Obama’s first (and only) term, now in its final 1076 days.

How much more of this ethical reform can we take?

Yet still again - another Obama nominee withdraws because of “tax problems”, the new euphemism for ‘not paying your freaking taxes like everybody else in the country’.

Here’s a good roundup of some other ethical lapses from politicians with no apparent affiliation.

Daschlemania comes to an end

Several news cycles too late, Tom Daschle withdraws his name from nomination.   I’m sure he’s really ticked that he paid his taxes for nothing. For nothing!

Daschle lobbies for lobbyist

Word now that Tom Daschle tried to get Team Obama to nominate his patron as secretary of something or other in the new cabinet.   Are there any ethical standards in play in this administration or not?
