Remember all the chuckling and derision about the pictures of Bush holding hands with the Saudi king? Never mind that other presidents have done it, it was proof positive that Bush was the king’s oil-needing lackey. So what does this picture establish?

Heads of state don’t bow to other heads of state. Amateur hour!
The MSM has seen fit to drop this story down the memory hole, so for most people this event never happened. It’s just that easy to control the narrative.

Another key election issue is kicked down the road a ways.

A good piece by Gene Healy in the DC Examiner. He makes the good point that this is not confined to the left and their leaders, but given the media stranglehold there are ten times the examples. A sickening exerpt:
Last summer, San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford wrote that “Many spiritually advanced people I know … identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who … can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet.”
The Politico recently ran a 900-word article entitled “The Power of Obama’s Hand,” reverentially describing how the president “uses touch to control and console simultaneously,” laying hands on supporters and opponents alike.
And in February, author Judith Warner used her New York Times blog to confess that “The other night I dreamt of Barack Obama. He was taking a shower right when I needed to get into the bathroom to shave my legs.”

The MSM is not only continuing to carry water for Team Obama, they are doubling down on stupid by trying to trash the success that Bush had fighting Al Qaeda. They follow the standard practice of a misleading headline that contradicts the article itself.

Great headline: “Weeks of Obama’s budget sales pitch and support still slips”
It’s almost like, the more people find out about the budget, the less they like it. Crazy!

On the Leno show tonight, the president made this witty remark about his low score:
It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president said.
As I often do, just try to imagine the maelstrom of outrage from all the usual suspects if a republican said that. On top of the DVD screwup, or the telemprompter screwup, or the bailout screwup etc etc.

Just imagine if a republican read the wrong speech on the teleprompter when meeting a head of state. This is one of several Obama gaffes that mysteriously have no video accompaniment.

The president is skipping this year’s Gridiron dinner and musical comedy shindig. Can’t say I blame him, but the press types are bending over backwards to rationalize the fact that they’ve been used and now abused by the guy they dragged over the finish line.
Members emphasize that Obama’s absence hasn’t changed any songs or the lineup. Associate member Annie Groer said that, even without the president, “it will be no less a schmooze-fest.”
As for Obama’s choice, Groer said, “I don’t see it as an insult. I think his priorities are perfectly in order.”
Right - having served your purpose, your usefulness is at an end.

Joe Biden swore good-naturedly when called “Mr. Vice President” by his pals. No big deal. They’re still raking Cheney over the coals for his f-bombs, though.

So the Lawyer-in-Chief is changing the name but not the status of enemy combatants held at Gitmo. A meaningless sop to his base in the media who will crow about this break from the past, ignoring the fact it is a continuation of Bush’s approach in all important respects.
