Where’s the love? (Int’l edition)

Remember during the campaign, everyone said electing Obama would restore America’s reputation in the world?  Me neither.

This can’t end well

So the president of GM stepped down because Obama told him to?  Is this the direction he wants to take the country?  On the plus side, sales of ‘Liberal Fascism’ are going to stay afloat for quite a while longer.

Update from James Lileks’ twitter:

Maybe I’m old-school, but “President fires CEO” looks as wrong as “Pope fires Missile.” Does not compute.

Not even the egg roll is safe

Team Obama used their high-tech savvy and uber-competence to ruin the ticket process for the Easter egg roll at the White House.   Here’s a part to show how once again, they demonstrate no knowledge of how free markets work:

With the egg roll more than two weeks from the date of the online ticket distribution, as opposed to at most three days in the past, the Obama administration has created a huge opening for the online scalping of free tickets.

Not the Obama they knew

More and more, staunch and blinkered supporters of Obama are realizing they’ve been sold a bill of goods.

Support for budget falling

Great headline: “Weeks of Obama’s budget sales pitch and support still slips

It’s almost like, the more people find out about the budget, the less they like it.  Crazy!

It’s over - did we win?

The war on terror is gone - the phrase that is, replaced by the meaningless “Overseas Contingency Operation”.  Nobody will use it, and that will make it easier to shut down.

Good grief

The teleprompters were getting more press than Obama, so the natural next step? Replace them with a monster monitor in the back of the room.  Shh!  Nobody noticed!

Oar-ee-on’s belt?

Powerline continues its streak of devastating commentary on the President’s many and increasingly frequent stumbles and gaffes.  Quayle-like, even (although Quayle wasn’t anything like the media caricature).

Orion is one of the best-known constellations, mostly because it actually looks like its namesake. So evidently we have to add astronomy to history and economics as subjects of which Obama is remarkably ignorant. I’m beginning to fear that our President has below-average knowledge of the world. Not for a President, but for a middle-aged American.

Yeah, but he doesn’t say ‘nucular’, so he’s still a genius.

The president as celebrity

As many feared, Obama the celebrity seems more interested in the trappings of the office than the actual job.  If he sticks it out for the whole term (singular) it will be the longest he’s held any position.  At the pace he’s setting now, he is single-handedly rehabilitating Jimmy Carter’s reputation as the worst president ever.  Still a close second though.

Totalitarianism watch

I didn’t expect another totalitarian update so soon, but this crisis is definitely not going to waste for the fascist wing of the White House.  I mean that in the strictest sense of the word - the government has no business taking control of the market to the extent they are planning.
