Wall Street to Obama: um, what?

Another clue as to why the financial markets melted down - they’re not so swift on the whole ’cause and effect’ thing. After supporting Obama, Wall Street types are mystified that he is enacting the policies he talked about during the campaign. Did they have the sound off?

Tea parties catching on

Keep watching Instapundit for tea party updates and photos.  Is Team Obama watching/listening?  Doubtful, but you never know.

You can’t make this stuff up

The person in charge of vetting candidates for tax problems has tax problems of his own. Or his wife’s. Same difference.

Do any of these people follow the rules they so gleefully impose on others?

Update:  No.

When is an earmark not an earmark?

When a democrat is president.   President No-Earmarks has his name attached to an earmark in the omnibus spending bill currently winging its way through congress, riding the wake of the largest spending bill in the history of the world.  Because what the US needs now is more spending on top of the so-called stimulus spending that has not been shown to generate any new jobs or create new wealth.

The hapless press secretary says that the president’s name will be removed from the earmark, which makes everything ok in their book.  The earmark is still there of course, going against the president’s promise.  But then again, every statement from Obama has an expiration limit. All of them.

Israel finally getting the message

The new administration has a decidedly less supportive approach to Israel, which comes as a surprise only to those who were blinded by Obama’s celebrity halo.  Anyone looking at the people he surrounded himself with and takes foreign policy advice from would know better.

Ready to take on the Norks

A month or so ago, this would have been called reckless cowboy swaggering. Now it’s smart diplomacy, or something.

Hope and Change - oh, and fear too

Dick Morris has Obama’s website number:

… his every remark and the constant preoccupation of his Cabinet is to heighten the sense of crisis and to escalate the predictions of doom if we do not do as they tell us and raise spending now and taxes later.

Instead of being a firewall, reassuring Main Street even as Wall Street crashed, he has become a conduit of panic, spreading the mood of desperation from the stock exchange floor to kitchen tables across the world.

Obama picks Saudi lapdog to head NIE office

The National Intelligence  Council produces NIEs for the president.  Former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and president of the Saudi-funded sock puppet/public affairs group Middle East Policy Council is being appointed chairman of the NIC.

That chill wind whipping through Israel is coming from the brush-off that Obama just sent their way.  Here’s a taste:

While President Obama speaks of helping the people of Israel “search for credible partners with whom they can make peace,” Mr. Freeman believes, as he said in a 2007 address to the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs, that “Israel no longer even pretends to seek peace with the Palestinians; it strives instead to pacify them.” The primary reason America confronts a terrorism problem today, he continued, is “the brutal oppression of the Palestinians by an Israeli occupation that is about to mark its fortieth anniversary and shows no sign of ending.”

Meet the new boss, cont’d

Team Obama continuing more Bush policies, without a peep from the perpetual whiners on the left.

Remember the fuss over waterboarding? It’s the next Bush policy into the ‘nuance’ machine for its eventual rebirth, acceptance and continued use:

On interrogations, Mr. Panetta said he believes the CIA can be effective if it limits itself to the 19 techniques the military is allowed to use. He said the administration is evaluating the effectiveness of so-called enhanced interrogation tactics such as waterboarding and will make recommendations to the president on what techniques should be allowed. In the interim, only the 19 techniques will be used.

Glad we got that cleared up

Apparently Gitmo is not the fascistic hell-hole everyone in the media said it was. Or at least, it isn’t any more now that Team Obama are in charge of it.  Now it’s “a well-run, professional facility that will be difficult to close”.  And yet, they’re going to close it anyway.
